The Power of Coaching

Coaching is the process of coming alongside someone to help them get clarity and confidence in addressing life’s opportunities. Coaching is not about telling people what to do, but is more about listening well and asking insightful questions.

As a movement we love to offer coaching sessions to help individuals discover God’s agenda for their life & ministry and co-operating with the Holy Spirit to see that agenda become a reality. It is an ongoing conversation that empowers a person or team to fully live out God’s calling upon their lives.

Testimonials

We interviewed a couple of people who received a series of Vineyard coaching sessions to hear how they found the process.

Alyson Reid (Mid Antrim Vineyard) shares her experience with us:

Paul Bevan (Trent Vineyard) shares his experience with coaching:

As well as these interviews, here are just a few testimonials of how some of our pastors found the coaching experience.

“I found the coaching support really important for that first year of planting where everything is fragile, and all sorts of emotions are evident as you try to establish a community and listen to God. There was a real sense of connection and relationship which I reflect back with fondness.”

My experience of coaching has been transformative.  I happened to be having it in tandem with Spiritual Direction and it has been a powerful mix.  I was stuck with some issues where I couldn’t move forward and my coach helped me to try to visualise what I wanted to happen, think about how I could get there and helped me drill down into practical and achievable steps for getting there.

I love working with the Holy Spirit and was afraid the coaching experience would be more business-led than spirit-led, but that certainly wasn’t the case. I was able to sense the Holy Spirit at work which gave me confidence and encouragement to follow the steps I decided to make.

I would say that has been a precious experience, deeply transformative and challenging. I was able to talk through some issues that I hadn’t been able to articulate and process, a few of which I had been stuck with for years not months.
