The vision
Vineyard Discipleship Year is a resource designed for local churches to equip passionate young adults to live with purpose seeking the extension of God’s Kingdom in their lives and their local communities.
As VCUKI we recognise that many of Vineyard churches would love to run a discipleship year. But, considerations of staff or volunteer time and resources, preparing and delivering content and making sure it's of high value year after year can often be a barrier. It's not always possible.
With Vineyard Discipleship Year we have created an accessible resource with prepared material that you can pick up and use in your local setting. These resources have been curated by members of the DTI, CTLF and Pathway teams who have collaborated to create a year long program.

About the Year
Vineyard Discipleship Year is aimed at 18-25 (17- 25 year olds in Scotland) year olds.
Cost: £550 per participant (which can be paid in monthly instalments, termly or as a lump sum).
The resource provides half a day’s worth of teaching and activation activities per week to churches and participants for a period of 36 weeks.
The sessions provided are a mix of:
- conference content,
- pre-recorded material
- 2 x Vineyard Theological Training modules
- activation activities that students participate in each week.
We would recommend that participants serve in the life of their local church for 1 - 1.5 days as part of their discipleship year. The serving element of the Vineyard Discipleship Year will be unique to each local church depending on their set-up and weekly rhythms. Further information can be found via our FAQs.

Wider Serving Opportunities
Across the year there are other opportunities for participants where they can choose to serve in a variety of National and Regional gatherings:
- DTI
- CTLF
- VLG
- Scotland and Ireland Regional gatherings

Requirements for hosting
A Vineyard Discipleship Year facilitator
This is an individual who will oversee the participants as they go through the discipleship year. They will be responsible for deciding when the course will begin and overseeing the weekly experience of participants. Ideally this would be a paid member of staff but could also be an experienced volunteer. Facilitators get access to all course materials for free and are asked to complete the Church’s Induction course before they start with participants.
A minimum of 2 participants
We would recommend that you run the course with no less than 2 young adults. This allows for community to be developed and discussion of experiences and learning gained.
