Celebrating three years of Growbaby Merton!

Merton Vineyard

Growbaby provides good quality, new and second-hand clothes and equipment for children from 0 to 5 years. It is a service that is run in locations across the UK and Ireland – totally free of charge to anyone who needs it. Growbaby in Merton (London) has just celebrated its third anniversary. We chatted to the team to find out what they’re celebrating!

“Over the past three years, we have become well known in Merton because of the work we are doing to help families in need across the borough. During this time we have reached over 400 families! Merton Growbaby was originally created to supply good quality second hand baby clothes, toys, books and equipment which then responded to the growing need across the borough. Specifically, during the pandemic, we provided 385 emergency deliveries of nappies, formula, wipes and toiletries on top of our usual provision.

We have formed strong links with the Merton Statutory and Voluntary Services and schools that had contact with families in need, as well as with a local Holiday Inn that is being used by the Home Office as temporary housing for Asylum Seekers during this time.

We love to hear stories from our clients. Here are a few of our favourites…

“When my daughter has own clothes day at school, she will wear her uniform because she doesn’t have any decent clothes of her own to wear. When Growbaby gave her some new clothes, she was blown away that she’d been included, as well as our baby. The first thing she said was, “Now I won’t have to wear a uniform on those days at school”.

“The things you have provided for us has meant that we can put food on the table.”

“I never thought my kids would wear & use such beautiful things. For once in my life, I have enough sleep. I don’t have to think about what my baby will eat, and how to get nappies.

For now, I can breathe. I have you to thank for it.”

“We have been able to put money aside for the rent because you have given us these things.”
