Details of churches around the movement who are offering discipleship year opportunities.
Discipleship Years are one way that churches seek to train and equip young people, through providing an environment where they can serve in a range of areas, finishing the year with experience of how a Vineyard church functions and a better idea of the direction for their life.
On this page is a list of those churches who have chosen to advertise their ‘DY’ places nationally.
Discipleship Year (DY) runs from September to July for those in their 20s to 30s. It’s a part time programme, typically three days per week (incl Sundays). The main focus of the year is character development. Immersing yourself in the church community, you’ll be fully encouraged to step out of your comfort zone as you serve, learn, pray and grow alongside others.
We are particularly looking for people who are keen to serve with our compassion, youth, children & student ministries, but whatever your area of interest, get in touch & tell us about yourself.

CITY CHURCH ABERDEEN
City Church is a large evangelical church in North East Scotland belonging to the Vineyard family. Since 2011 we have been a multi-site church, meaning that we now do mission, ministry and worship in 7 locations across a 50 mile stretch of our region. Our journey has been marked by the grace and kindness of God and we have seen lots of people not previously connected with the Lord, or with his Church encounter the life-changing message of the Gospel.
We believe that God has called us to play our part in writing a new future for the Church in Scotland. We are kept awake at night by a vision to launch new expressions of our church all over our region, and to plant new churches throughout Scotland.
Our commitment to this call and to this vision is the creation of the Leadership Academy through which we look to invest, equip and release emerging leaders into the fullness of all that God has for them. It is our heart that all of us would be living lives that pursue a wholehearted commitment to knowing, building and seeking: Christ, His Church and the Lost.
The course runs from September to June and is open to anyone over the age of 21 who has a specific sense of call to leadership.

From September to July every year we run our Discipleship Year (DY) for those in their 20s and early 30s. It’s a part-time programme, typically three days a week where you’ll get the chance to invest in your relationship with God and get more involved in the life of the church. You’ll be encouraged to step out of your comfort zone through teaching, character development, outreach, and much more! Every year we run our Gap Year for 18 to 20 year olds. It consists of 3 days per week of serving, teaching, studying and lots more. We want to help you be all that you can be, discover more of who God is and His plan for your life, as well as having lots of fun along the way!
CAUSEWAY COAST VINEYARD
Encounter School of Mission is designed to equip and raise up kingdom carriers who bring life to every corner of culture. It is a nine month course that helps you to discover your kingdom identity, understand your kingdom authority and brings clarity to your kingdom assignment. We are looking for people who refuse to reduce faith to what is manageable, live beyond what is comfortable and reach for the impossible.
We would love for you to join us in this journey as we explore all that He is making available for us. We would love you to embrace a life of Encounter.
Internships (ESOM Plus) available in: Administration, Kids, Youth, Worship, Compassion, Education & Women’s Ministry.
Our interns work alongside our team in the design, delivery and development of ministry within the church and its wider context. As well as hands-on experience, our Interns have weekly teaching, reading assignment and missional opportunities.
Through a mix of practical and theoretical training you will grow and learn over the course of the nine months (September to the end of May), within the context of a vibrant community.
We’re searching for the most passionate and gifted people to join in our intern experience.
This is the place for you if you’re interested in bringing people and communities into life, if you want to see God use you in ways you never imagined. Working here is one of the highest privileges you’ll ever experience.
When most people think of an internship, they have visions of busy work-making coffee, posting mail, making copies. Here at Vineyard Church Dungannon, we’re looking for contributing members for our growing team. Oh don’t worry you’ll work hard! After all, bringing life to communities is hard work, but you’ll also get to see the Kingdom of God break out because of your efforts.
It’s a calling. It’s a privilege. And above all, it’s a chance to be empowered. We have no desire to raise up a generation of great coffee makers. We want to raise up a generation of risk takers and leaders. People who are awakened to the God-given potential inside of them.
BATH & AVON VINEYARD
From September 2017, a new community of people in Bath & Avon Vineyard will be starting a year of intentional discipleship within the church. This is an opportunity for you to give God space to ‘do business’ with you; to take you on a journey of faith where He can continue to shape you into the person He has created you to be.
Over the course of the year, we will create environments where you can discover more about who God is, grow in your understanding of your identity in Him, and develop a sense of God-inspired calling and purpose for the rest of your life.
The focus of the year will be community. Whether we’re learning, leading, being challenged, serving others or simply making space for God to speak to us, we’ll be doing it together.
‘We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honour and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father.’
