The 2017 Compassion Retreat, a review

Helen Murphy

In May, we hosted our first Compassion Retreat, held at Trent Vineyard Nottingham.  Helen Murphy organised the gathering and penned these words.

The Compassion Retreat felt like family right from the beginning, as 80+ leaders from across the Vineyard movement gathered together.

We had an amazing time connecting with old friends, meeting new ones and sharing experiences.  During this time we made space to worship and receive input, as well as to minister to each other in a relaxed, safe environment.

Over mealtimes we had long conversations (sometimes late into the night), between those who lead and serve their compassion ministries around the movement.  It was a really unique, special time that was so needed by those who serve in these areas.

Feedback has been so positive, here’s a few comments from those who attended:

“It was great to meet with others across the Vineyard Movement and hear such encouraging stories of the work God is doing across our cities. Also nice to have time to reflect and hear from God about what it truly means to be compassionate as Jesus was.”

“It was so good to have so many like-hearted people in one place and to be able to share with each other, realising I am not alone in dreaming big, living with disappointments and coping with similar challenges.”

“We really felt God stir our hearts for new things within compassion ministry and we are excited for what God will be doing with us next.”

We are already looking forward to the next time!
