Review of 2011 part 1: January to March

Dec 15, 2011

2011 was a year of firsts. Our first National Women’s Conference, our first Vineyard National Celebration, the first time that the National Leaders’ Conference was held at Trent Vineyard and our first Emerging Leaders’ Conference.

It was such an exciting year that we’ve put together a rundown of 2011 in four parts, in case you missed any of it.  Here's part one, covering January, February and March; part two coming soon...

January

The King and His Kingdom graphic

After many years residing on the South Coast, it was time for the National Leaders’ Conference to pack it’s bags and travel to the Midlands, where Trent Vineyard played host to the 2011 conference.

It was our pleasure to welcome a record number of people to this annual conference, where the title was ‘The King and His Kingdom’, with speakers including Simon Ponsonby, Mary Pytches and David Stroud plus a host of our own brilliant church and movement leaders.

It was here that our National Directors, John and Eleanor Mumford, shared the vision that we feel God has given to us; with a renewed emphasis and energy to be placed on Church Planting and Church Development.

You can watch or listen to the talks from John and Eleanor Mumford below.

John Mumford - 2020 Vision

In this session, John Mumford spent some time looking at how God is calling us over the next ten years as a movement.

Eleanor Mumford - The Sound of Marching

In this final session from the National Leaders' Conference, Eleanor Mumford speaks on 2 Samuel 5 and the call upon Vineyard Churches at this point in our history, as we feel God speaks to us about the next ten years.

It was also here, at the National Leaders' Conference, that we announced our first ever Vineyard National Celebration, happening on 14th May. This was to be a multi-site event, with live link-ups from around the UK & Ireland, bringing the Vineyard family together in a way never tried before. An exciting and technologically challenging occasion.

"Let us, as the Vineyard family, all over the nation, from Aberdeen to Truro, from Dartford to Dungannon, gather together as one, for worship and prayer, for thanksgiving and offerings. We want to thank God and celebrate all that He has done for us over the past 23 years and share the vision that He has given us for the next 10. There is something God does when we are all together as a family and we look forward to Him meeting with us."

February

Celtic worship hit the shops with the release of ‘Creator’ from Vineyard Records UK.

“An all-new and formidable offering of worship birthed in Northern Ireland, featuring a treasure of new songs from worship songwriters Andy Young (Dungannon Vineyard) and Harmony Smith (Belfast City Vineyard).”

Receiving reviews such as ‘The energy of the arrangements and depth of the lyrics combine to bring an honest representation of worship within these churches. Stylistically punchy, guitar-driven rocky numbers lead to mellow and thoughtful ballads and blue-grass with the very personal 'Little Old Me'. The title track speaks of the immensity of God as creator of the universe whilst also expressing the very personal relationship we have with Him. This album is sure to bring you to a place of personal, heart-felt worship.  (From Essential Christian.)

March

With the growth of the movement, it was exciting to announce the news that Rick and Lulu Williams would be appointed as our new Associate National Directors.

Rick and Lulu Williams - Associate National Directors

This was a new role, created in order to help facilitate the development of Church growth in Vineyard Churches UK & Ireland.

John Mumford said:

“Eleanor and I are thrilled at this development. Rick and Lulu are very experienced, gifted, loved and greatly respected throughout the length and breath of the whole movement."

"We are looking forward to having them onboard in the role of Associate National Directors and value their gifting very highly, together with their experience of planting and developing Churches.”

During March tickets for the Vineyard National Celebration also went on sale, with tickets for all ten venues selling at a phenomenal rate.

Vineyard National Celebration GraphicThis free live link event, was to happen simultaneously in 10 venues across the UK & Ireland, will host a packed programme of worship, live stories, corporate prayer, centrally streamed talks, media pieces and film clips especially made to celebrate this occasion. One party in ten locations, with the whole Vineyard family gathering together.

The locations were: Aylesbury, Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury, Belfast, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Nottingham and Winchester.

Trent live at Spring Harvest artworkNot to be left out, the worship band ‘Trent’ (from Trent Vineyard, Nottingham) released their new live worship album 'Trent Live At Spring Harvest' on 10th March.

The album was recorded live at the UK's Spring Harvest conference last year (2010) in front of 4000 people, it included covers of popular songs such as Delirious's 'Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble' and Israel Houghton's 'Friend Of God', plus songs like 'Perfect Sacrifice' and 'Unfailing Love'.

Moving North to Scotland, March saw the ever-growing annual gathering of our Scottish contingency, at the ‘Scottish Vineyard Conference’. This year we had a new venue and were pleased to welcome, as our speakers, John and Eleanor Mumford, and Alan Scott (Causeway Coast Vineyard).

The conference was a resounding success, with a beautiful combination of Worship, Communion, Teaching and generally having a good time. Listen to the Main Sessions by clicking here.
