During November 2010, Rick Williams, Senior Pastor of Riverside Vineyard Church in London, presented three public talks on the topic “A Changing Church for a Changing World”. These talks were part of the second annual Theology Week, held at Wharfedale Vineyard in Leeds.
Rick tackles the topic of the church, certainly in the West, facing a huge challenge. Is the challenge, however, a threat or an opportunity? The threat tends to be seen in the unprecedented rates of change in society, and the shifts in cultural and religious practice. The opportunity comes in the form of equally unprecedented openness to issues of God, spirituality, and meaning. Both are good reasons to stop and re-evaluate the essential call of the 21st Century Church – the call to mission in Leeds.
To what extent do we need a changing Church for a changing world? How do we shape the Church so that it is true to biblical imperative and cultural awareness? These questions will be examined over three evenings, under the headings “The Changing Culture”, “A Theology of Mission” and “Shaping the Church for Mission”.
Rick, together with his wife, Lulu, planted Riverside Vineyard Church 21 years ago, from which 14 churches have been planted. He read theology at Cambridge University went into the ministry originally with the Church of England and has a Doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary.
These talks are spread over four videos.
