NLC 2011: A Letter from John Mumford

Sep 14, 2010

My dear friends,

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you at our 2011 National Leaders’ Conference.

As you may have heard, we are experimenting with a new venue – Trent Vineyard in Nottingham. For a variety of reasons, and prompted by the Lord, we have had to make this change, and the NLC Task Force team has been remarkably gracious and very flexible, especially given quite such a challenge and at quite such short notice.

The plan is to use their large main meeting room for the conference main sessions, their smaller rooms and the recently-acquired Youth & Training Centre for seminars etc, and, of course, their bar for socialising! Delegates will then have the freedom to make arrangements to suit their own needs and preferences both for meals (sandwich lunches onsite, nearby fast-food outlets & restaurants) and accommodation (using local hotels and B&Bs).

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘The King & His Kingdom’. As you well know, this subject is very much at the core of why we do what we do in the Vineyard, and we are looking forward to exploring it together and thinking in some depth about how what we believe affects what we do.

Derek Morphew* will be returning to the NLC to lead the morning Bible studies, with a fresh perspective on Jesus the King. In addition to this, Mary Pytches will be sharing her thoughts about the power of the Kingdom and David Stroud, who is on the leadership team of Newfrontiers, will speak about the Kingdom and church planting.

There will, of course, be our customary mix of worship, ministry, teaching and training, plus plenty of time to connect with one another, one of the most valued and valuable aspects of the National Leaders’ Conference over many years now. I very much hope you will be able to join us for what we hope and pray will be a wonderful week, in which God meets with us again in an unmistakeable way and propels us into a new year of life and ministry in the Vineyard.

With our love,

John & Eleanor Mumford

*Update: Derek Morphew who was going to be leading the morning bible studies is now, unfortunately, not able to come. We are, however, delighted that Simon Ponsonby, Pastor of Theology at St Aldates Church, has been able to step in.  Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
